BA Humanities Programme

The BA Humanities programme is a 240-credit undergraduate programme over 4 Stages. Each Stage is worth 60 credits.

Programme Structure

• The programme consists of fifteen pathways, and students are registered to the pathway they chose on their CAO application.
• The fifteen pathways are:
  • Celtic Studies, Art History and History
  • Classics, Art History and Archaeology
  • Classics, English and History
  • Creative & Cultural Industries
  • English, Drama and Film
  • English Literature
  • English with Creative Writing
  • European Studies
  • Global Studies
  • History
  • History and Politics
  • Irish Language, Literature & Translation
  • Irish Studies
  • Languages, Linguistics and Cultures
  • Music, Film and Drama

Academic Support

• Each pathway is supported by a School and a Pathway Coordinator as well as the College Office.
• Students will find out who their contacts are during Orientation.

Workload

• Students are expected to take 60 credits over the two trimesters of each academic session.
• Students cannot attempt more than 40 credits in a single trimester.
• Repeats and Resits will count towards their workload, and students are advised to seek academic advice from their School and College Office if they find they have too many modules to be completed overall.
