Special authorization
To be eligible for the program, students must have a passing grade in the course Oral biomedicine 1 and a passing grade in the modules Organsystems anatomy, histology and physiology 1, Organsystems anatomy, histology and physiology 2, and Anatomy: Head/Neck in the course Organsystems structure and function.
Goal
Upon completing the program, students will be able to:
- Describe the basic pathophysiological processes
- Explain the mechanisms of onset and progression of diseases relevant to the dental profession
Contents
The program begins with a general section on disease processes related to cell damage, adaptation, healing, inflammation, and tumor development. The subsequent organ-specific section focuses on pathological changes in the skeleton, circulatory organs, respiratory organs, blood, digestive tract, urogenital and endocrine organs, and skin. Through group work with patient cases, aspects of disease pathogenesis are integrated with symptoms, treatment, and etiology.

Examination

- Mandatory: Seminar and group work with oral and written presentation
- The examiner assesses whether and how absence from compulsory educational components can be made up. Before the student has participated in the compulsory educational components or made up for absence in accordance with the examiner's instructions, the study results cannot be finalized. Absence from a compulsory educational component may mean that the student cannot make up for the occasion until the next time the course is given.
Transitional provisions
If the program is discontinued or undergoes significant changes, an examination will be offered according to the previous literature list and learning objectives for a maximum of one academic year after the revision/discontinuation.
