Special Eligibility
- At least 120 credits from education leading to occupational therapist, audiologist, dietitian, speech therapist, medical, psychological, nursing, physiotherapist, or social worker exam. Additionally, Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English A/English 6 with a minimum grade of pass/E are required.

Objectives
The course objectives are to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the psychosomatic approach and its application in patient care. After completing the course, students should be able to:
- Describe and apply a biopsychosocial perspective on mental/psychosomatic illness, chronic pain, and stress-related disorders
- Describe body therapeutic, affect-focused, and behavior-oriented interventions and their applications
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and argue for their specific knowledge area and role in the rehabilitation of patients with mental/psychosomatic illness, chronic pain, and stress-related disorders
- Demonstrate scientific and critical thinking and a reflective approach to their own perspectives/values and needs for lifelong learning

Content
The course covers:
- Bio-, psycho-, social explanation models for health/illness
- Body, being, meaning, and reflection as central concepts for understanding body-soul interaction
- Merleau-Ponty's phenomenological understanding of "the lived body"
- Explanation models for understanding acceptance and change processes
- Existential perspectives on health/illness
- Therapeutic approach
- Theories and exercises to promote affect and body awareness
Arbetsformer
Working Methods
The teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, literature studies, discussions in seminar form, and theme work. Great emphasis is placed on the student's own active knowledge acquisition and reflection on their own experiences in connection with body awareness and mindfulness exercises.
Examination
Examination
The assessment of knowledge, skills, attitude, and reflective ability takes place continuously through follow-up of study assignments and at the final examination. The examination consists of a written individual assignment and a group assignment. For a passed course, completion of study assignments, passed examination, attendance (see below), and active participation in body awareness training and seminar discussions are required.
- Mandatory moments for a passed course are:
- Oral and written study assignments presented individually or in groups
- Mandatory attendance and active participation in patient case seminars and presentations
- Attendance at 80% of other scheduled time

Transition Provisions
Examination will be provided for a period of one year after a possible discontinuation of the course. Examination can be carried out according to the previous literature list for a period of one year after the time when a renewal of the literature list has been made.
