Operations & Supply Chain Management (OSCM)

The Operations & Supply Chain Management (OSCM) program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of operations and supply chain management, including digital tools and artificial intelligence. The program aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills to analyze and address managerial problems in supply chain management.


Program Objectives

  • Provide a solid understanding of models, operational approaches, and digital tools and artificial intelligence to support managers in managing internal and external supply chain processes.
  • Focus on internal operations processes within the company and external supply, distribution, and material management in a collaborative perspective.
  • Offer practical knowledge that can be immediately applied in the workplace through interactive lessons, business games, examples, and company applications.
  • Develop a set of knowledge and tools useful for analyzing and addressing recurring managerial problems in supply chain management.

Program Structure

The program consists of 13 modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of operations and supply chain management:


  1. Introduction to Operations and Supply Chain Management: Introduces concepts of operations and supply chain management, the field of action (the supply network), and maps critical processes from a logistical-productive point of view.
  2. Previsions and Demand Planning, and Inventory Optimization: Illustrates the functioning of the main techniques for calculating demand forecasts and provides examples of tools to support Sales Forecast & Demand Planning and inventory management.
  3. Operations Planning: Explains the application of material requirements planning (MRP) for material management and capacity requirements planning (CRP) for production capacity planning.
  4. Shop Floor Management: Addresses multiple shop floor management topics, including machine and system productivity, main losses and failures, and systems for collecting and analyzing production data.
  5. Business Game on Labour-Intensive Line: Aims to simulate a labour-intensive operational process where participants can experiment with improvements achievable through Operational Excellence and Artificial Intelligence features.
  6. Collaborative Management of Materials between Supply Chain Actors: Explains the benefits of collaboration between suppliers and customers for material management and describes practical applications of techniques such as vendor-managed inventory and continuous replenishment.
  7. Procurement and Supplier Management: Illustrates procurement strategies and operational approaches and tools for Vendor Relationship Management.
  8. Digital Warehousing: Covers the main types of warehouses, manual and automatic warehouses, e-commerce warehouses, picking activities, and the digitalization of warehouse management processes through Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  9. Transportation Management: Classifies transports, illustrates the costs of transports and outsourcing tariffs, and explains Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for planning, executing, and monitoring transports.
  10. Risk in the Supply Chain: Provides a perspective on supply chain monitoring dimensions that can be related to transactional risks, from risk management on third parties to data analytics techniques for preventing and detecting anomalies.
  11. Digital Tools for Evaluating Products and Purchase Experience: Explores the use of advanced digital technologies to evaluate the purchase experience and key product attributes, introducing innovative tools for collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data on consumer behavior.
  12. Sustainability in the Supply Chain: Illustrates the main standards for evaluating sustainability performance in the supply chain, such as life cycle analysis (LCA), and how these tools can be used to make supply chains more sustainable.
  13. Public Speaking: Offers practical guidelines for more effective communication.

Target Audience

The program is designed for operations managers, supply chain managers, consultants, production planners, production managers, logistics and distribution managers, and anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of operations and supply chain management.

  • Duration: 104 hours
  • Period: 25 September 2026 19 March 2027
  • Location: Aula del Dipartimento di Tecnica e gestione dei sistemi industriali (Vicenza), Universitŕ di Padova, and possibly other locations for specific modules.
  • Contribution: 4,200 euros (with an early bird registration discount of 10% for confirmations by the end of May 2026)
