University of Canterbury Exchange Program
The University of Canterbury, located in Christchurch, New Zealand, offers a unique study abroad experience in a spectacular natural environment with renowned international faculty, research-led programs, and exciting experiential learning opportunities. Program Details
The University of Canterbury exchange program allows students to continue their path towards an OSU College of Forestry degree while studying abroad. The program offers a range of courses and research opportunities, providing students with a unique and enriching experience.
Application Process and Deadlines
To apply for the program, students must first apply through OSU GO and be accepted before applying through the University of Canterbury website. The application deadlines are as follows:
- OSU Go Application Deadline: March 15 for Semester 2, October 15 for Semester 1
- UC Application Deadline: April 15 for Semester 2, November 15 for Semester 1
- Welcome/Orientation Date: TBD July for Semester 2, TBD February for Semester 1
- Semester Dates: mid July - mid November for Semester 2, early February - mid June for Semester 1
- Potential Credits Available: 24-30 term credits for both semesters
Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Be a College of Forestry student in good academic standing
- Have at least sophomore standing
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Have a satisfactory OSU Conduct Record
- Successfully complete an interview demonstrating academic purpose and maturity
Funding Opportunities
There are several funding opportunities available for students participating in the program, including:
- UC International Mobility Inbound Study Abroad Awards: available for students completing a study abroad program at the University of Canterbury
- Gilman-Education New Zealand: a highly selective award for those studying or interning abroad in New Zealand
Funding Application Deadlines
The deadlines for funding applications are as follows:
