Introduction to the Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities is designed to support students in their first semester/year of study. The program aims to provide students with a successful start to their studies, offer guidance on study organization, and help them develop learning strategies.
Objectives of the Mentoring Program
The main objectives of the program are to:
- Support students in their successful entry into the study program
- Provide assistance with general study organization, creation of homework, and learning strategies
- Inform students about the comprehensive advisory services offered by the department and the Free University of Berlin
- Network students with each other
Structure of the Mentoring Program
The mentoring groups consist of first-semester students (mentees) from the same field of study and are led by experienced students (mentors). In addition to the mentoring groups, the Mentoring Office offers events in cooperation with the institutes and the Career Service to facilitate the transition into the study program and the subsequent transition into professional life.
Other Mentoring Programs
The Institute for German and Dutch Philology offers its own programs; students with the respective core subjects should contact their institute. For students in teacher training programs, the Mentoring Lehramt program is offered, which is specifically tailored to the needs of teacher training students.
