Geological Sciences (M.Sc.) - major in hydrogeology
نظرة عامة على البرنامج
Geologische Wissenschaften (M.Sc.)
The Master's program in Geologische Wissenschaften (Geological Sciences) offers a comprehensive education in the field of geology, with a focus on theoretical and applied aspects.
Über das Studium
The program provides students with a broad basis in various geological disciplines, as well as specialized knowledge in specific areas, such as hydrogeology, geophysics, and paleontology.
Studienschwerpunkte
The program offers several areas of specialization, including:
- Studienschwerpunkt Geodynamik und Geomaterialien (Geodynamics and Geomaterials)
- Studienschwerpunkt Geophysik (Geophysics)
- Studienschwerpunkt Hydrogeologie (Hydrogeology)
- Studienschwerpunkt Paläontologie (Paleontology)
Studienschwerpunkt Hydrogeologie
The Hydrogeology specialization focuses on the components of the Earth's water cycle, particularly those related to groundwater. Students learn about theoretical and applied hydrogeology, as well as hydraulic and hydrochemical relationships. With this knowledge, students can contribute to modeling flow and transport processes in groundwater, explore groundwater resources, and participate in their protection and management.
Pflichtmodule
To acquire these competencies, students must complete 24 LP from the following compulsory modules:
- Hydrogeologische Labormethoden (6 LP): Introduction to classical hydrogeological investigation techniques, including determination of permeability coefficients, sieving, and sedimentation.
- Hydrogeologische Geländemethoden (6 LP): Measurement of runoff from surface waters and correlation with catchment areas, as well as execution of small-scale drillings and sediment sampling.
- Modellierung in der Hydrogeologie I (6 LP): Introduction to hydraulic modeling, including steady-state and transient flow, particle tracking, and software applications.
- Angewandte Hydrogeologie I (6 LP): Introduction to common hydrogeological evaluation software for profile creation, pump test analysis, and thematic mapping.
Wahlpflichtbereich
In addition to the compulsory modules, students must complete 42 LP from the following elective modules:
- Angewandte Hydrogeologie II (6 LP)
- Angewandte Hydrogeologie III (6 LP)
- Modellierung in der Hydrogeologie II (6 LP)
- Grundwasserneubildung und Hydrogeologie der Festgesteine (6 LP)
- Umweltrelevante Geochemie und Geländearbeit (6 LP)
- Stabile Isotope in der Hydrogeologie (6 LP)
- Spezielle Themen der Hydrogeologie I (6 LP)
