Bachelor of Communication in Public Relations and Advertising Bachelor of Laws

The UTS Bachelor of Communication in Public Relations and Advertising Bachelor of Law is a cross-disciplinary dual degree that provides students with a broad range of practical, sought-after capabilities to support a meaningful and successful future in law, communication, or any other industry.


Course Description

This course is designed for those wanting to gain legal qualifications while also developing expertise in public relations and advertising. The course has a dual focus on advanced communication skills in the context of public-facing communication initiatives and comprehensive legal education, meeting the academic requirements for admission to practise law in NSW.


Course Structure

Students will commence their Communication studies with core subjects, building their foundational understanding of the discipline. Then, in their chosen stream, they will establish specialised capabilities in areas like public relations, creative advertising, communication design, and multimodal storytelling before collaborating on an agency-based project. Meanwhile, their Law course will see them acquire insight into constitutional, corporate, contract law, and more.

Course Highlights

Students will enjoy the opportunity to establish competencies in strategic communication in advertising, public relations, campaign design and production, and more. Additionally, they will get the chance to acquire an in-depth understanding of legal theory and practice that meets the academic requirements for admission as a lawyer in the state of NSW.


Industry Accreditation

This course satisfies the academic requirements for admission to the Supreme Court of NSW as a lawyer. Once completed, students will also need to complete a practical legal training program, such as the Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice (available at UTS), to be eligible for admission as a lawyer.


Admission Requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. Eligibility for admission does not guarantee an offer of a place.

  • IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, writing 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: overall 79, writing 21
  • UTS College AE5: Pass
  • Pearson PTE: overall 58, writing 50
  • Cambridge C1A/C2P: overall 176, writing 169

Domestic Course Fees

The 2026 indicative tuition fee for government-supported domestic students is $91,455.00. This fee is an estimate for the entire course, based on full-time study each year. Fees are reviewed annually and may change.


Location

Classes are held at the City Campus, or specialist off-campus locations. Some courses are delivered via online (distance) learning.
