Graduate Certificate in Environmental Engineering Management

The Graduate Certificate in Environmental Engineering Management is a postgraduate course designed for professionals in engineering, science, planning, architecture, law, surveying, health, and building. This course focuses on the broad aspects of environmental management, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the subject.


Course Description

This course deals with the broad aspects of environmental management relevant to practising professionals in engineering science, planning, architecture, law, surveying, health, and building. Engineers, scientists, town planners, and other professionals working in this field have a compelling duty to ensure that the adverse effects of development on the total environment are minimised.


Course Structure

The course aims to develop an awareness and understanding of the human impact on the environment with respect to waste minimisation and water quality management, and the professional skills required to work as part of an integrated team responsible for environmental planning and management. Students must complete 24 credit points of study, with a minimum of 18 credit points coming from the core of the Master of Environmental Engineering Management and the remainder from core or elective subjects.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria:


  • Completed Australian bachelor's degree, or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent.
  • Completed Australian associate degree or advanced diploma (AQF 6), or overseas equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant post-secondary professional work experience.
  • Completed Australian diploma (AQF 5) or New Zealand technical and vocational NQF Levels 5-7, or other overseas equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant post-secondary professional work experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning is not available for this course. However, the substitution of core subjects with an alternative/advanced postgraduate subject in a similar field of study may be granted.
