Master of Screen Arts and Production (Extension)

The Master of Screen Arts and Production (Extension) is a postgraduate program designed to equip students with advanced practical skills, networking opportunities, and a portfolio of original works to support their future career in the screen industry.


Course Description

This program is for anyone looking to deepen, enhance, or reframe their skills as a screen industry practitioner. Students engage in hands-on and practical training, develop a network of creative collaborators, and create a portfolio of original films and other screen works.


Course Structure

The program consists of 96 credit points of study, with four core subjects and eight elective subjects. Core subjects introduce students to foundational skills, while electives allow students to specialize in a chosen aspect of screen production craft.

  • 57684: Studio: Unscripted
  • 57685: Studio: Scripted
  • 57686: Studio: Screen Experiences
  • 57687: Studio: Screen Arts Project

Electives

Students can choose from a range of electives, including directing, ALEXA cameras, and producing.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must have:


  • Completed an Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent in Society and Culture or Creative Arts
  • Or, completed an Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent in any field of study, and have a minimum of 2 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant professional work experience in the screen industry

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, writing 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: overall 79, writing 21
  • UTS College AE5: Pass
  • Pearson PTE: overall 58, writing 50
  • Cambridge C1A/C2P: overall 176, writing 169

Tuition Fees

  • 2026 Indicative tuition fees for domestic students: $63,814.00
  • 2026 Indicative first-year tuition fee: $31,205.00

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have successfully completed subjects from the Graduate Certificate in Screen Arts and Production: Documentary, the Graduate Certificate in Screen Arts and Production: Drama, or the Master of Screen Arts and Production are eligible for recognition of prior learning for completed subjects.
