The Master's Programme in Molecular Biology is a 2-year, 120-credit program offered by the Department of Chemistry & Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Science and Technology. The program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of molecular biology, including the latest research in the field.

Programme Overview

The program consists of elective courses, allowing students to create a unique scientific profile. Students can choose to deepen their knowledge in molecular biology or broaden their knowledge by adding other natural science subjects to their curriculum.

Programme Structure and Content

The first year of the program includes recommended in-depth courses in biology, such as molecular biology, genetics, molecular microbiology, neurobiology, and immunology. The second year consists of an individual laboratory-based degree project, which can be spent on a research project or a combination of a shorter project and extra courses.

Who Should Apply?

The program is suitable for students who are curious about the functioning of living cells and want to work in fundamental research and drug development. Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or Biology, including at least 60 credits in Biology and 30 credits in Chemistry or the equivalent.

Prerequisites and Selection

Admission to the program is based on the number of credits from previous university studies, with a maximum of 165 credits. International applicants must have a Bachelor of Science, including at least 60 credits in Biology and 30 credits in Chemistry or the equivalent, and meet the English language requirements.

After Graduation

Graduates of the program will be prepared to enter workplaces such as universities, hospital laboratories, civil services, public authorities, and food, drug, and biotechnological companies. Some potential job titles include laboratory engineer, manager of strategic partnerships, quality control analyst, and research engineer.

Facilities

Most courses within the program are given on Campus Medicinareberget.
