Course Description
Leadership is considered essential for cooperation between people, particularly in technology-intensive organizations. This course aims to prepare students for leadership roles by communicating understanding in leadership theory and exercising important skills. The course combines theoretical studies and practical skills development, introducing students to dominating perspectives within leadership research and specializing in selected theories.
Course Contents
The course consists of:
- Lectures presenting central parts of the course literature
- Written assignments connected to lectures
- Seminars applying process exercises and active listening
- A take-home exam
Intended Learning Outcomes
After passing the course, students should be able to:
- Account for dominating perspectives within the leadership research
- Present and explain orally and in writing chosen theories related to leadership with a specific focus on leadership in cross-cultural and industrial organizations
- Apply chosen leadership theories in written analysis of case studies
- Compare different leadership theories and demonstrate a critical reflecting approach to leadership theories
- Use chosen process exercises and active listening
