Introduction to the Foundation Course

The Foundation Course at the University of Pisa is a pre-university program designed to provide an alternative entry route for students who do not meet the entry criteria for their chosen undergraduate course.

Program Details

• The program has a duration of 1 year, from September 2025 to July 2026.
• There are 2 main study tracks: Humanities and Science.
• The program offers 3 study options: online, blended, and on-campus.
• Courses are taught in English, with an additional study of the Italian language for one year, from A1 to B2 level.

Program Structure

• The program includes 288 hours of English medium courses in Humanities and/or Science subjects.
• An online Italian preparatory module is available, along with a yearly Italian language course from A1 to B1 level.
• A math preparatory course is offered for Science students, and a Textology course is available for Humanities students before the start of the first semester.

Benefits and Outcomes

• Upon completion of the program, students have the right to apply for all undergraduate programs at the University of Pisa, provided they obtain the final certificate.
• Benefits are available for undergraduate programs in English, including Management for Business and Economics (MBE) and International Program in Humanities (IPH).
• Dedicated tutors are available to assist students with administrative issues, university orientation, and any other aspects of their study experience and stay in Italy.
• The program includes trips, social, cultural, and orientation activities.

Admission and Requirements

• The program is designed for students who do not meet the entry criteria for their chosen undergraduate course at the University of Pisa.
• Students who complete the Foundation Course may be eligible to apply for undergraduate programs at the University of Pisa.
