Master of Engineering (MEng), Mining Engineering

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in Mining Engineering is a one-year, coursework-based program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge in mining engineering. Admission and Application

The admission requirements for the MEng program in Mining Engineering include:

• Completion of a 4-year Bachelor's degree in mining, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or other related engineering fields, with a B- average.
• Applicants whose native languages do not include English must obtain satisfactory standing in an English Language Proficiency Test.
• Students without academic prerequisites may be placed on probation and required to take additional courses.

The application requirements include:

• Completion of eight (8) term-length courses.
• At least 6 courses must be selected from the list of compulsory courses offered by the Robert M. Buchan Department of Mining.
• A maximum of two courses can be at the 400 undergraduate level.
• Students have the option to take MINE 898, a project-based course that counts towards the required eight courses.
• Completion of a non-credit course, APSC 801 Master of Engineering Foundations.
• Training on the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), through the online course in Accessible Customer Service.

Funding

The department does not provide funding for MEng students. MEng students are entirely self-funded.
