Program Overview

The Wildfire and Climate Change Adaptation Management course is an 18-hour online program spanning six weeks. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to climate change-related disasters, focusing on wildfire resilience and management.


Course Description

This course delves into the impacts of climate change, particularly in the context of wildfires in Canada. It explores how understanding climate change is crucial for responding to natural disasters and highlights the roles of different levels of government, indigenous communities, and global emergency response communities in tackling wildfire and climate change threats.

Instructor

The course instructor, Brian Hutchinson, is a respected expert in firefighting, wildfire response, and fire service education, currently serving as the Superintendent of Provincial Operations - Fire Services at the BC Wildfire Service.
