Master in Sports Law

The Master in Sports Law program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the legal aspects of sports, including the regulation of professional sports, sports contracts, and sports disputes. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the field of sports law, whether as a lawyer, sports agent, or sports administrator.

Program Goals

The program has several goals, including:

• To provide graduates with a specialization in sports law, enabling them to face the local, Arab, and global market.
• To provide the UAE and Arab society with a group of legal competencies in the field of sports, capable of giving and performing in an institutional excellence manner.
• To conduct studies with legislative comparisons between GCC, Arab, and international sports regulations and laws.
• To develop the scientific capabilities and skills of scientific research for students in the Master's in Sports Law program.
• To provide the community with graduates able to make a change in the leadership processes and the formulation of sports regulations, rules, and legislation.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completing the program, students will be able to:

• Explain the knowledge in the field of sports law in an in-depth and comprehensive manner.
• Use constructive critical thinking skills to provide professional advice of legal relevance in the sports field.
• Practice the drafting of legislation and the preparation of draft sports laws and regulations and national and international sports contracts.
• Develop innovative and smart solutions related to settlement procedures and resolving sports disputes.
• Analyze the contemporary knowledge of scientific research to be the basis for constructive critical thinking with knowledge of the latest developments in the framework of sports laws and regulations.
• Use the basic skills related to the field of sports law in terms of their ability to analyze and interpret.

Graduation Requirements

To complete the graduate degree, students must satisfy the following requirements:

• Earn a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00.
• Successfully complete all courses as described in the study plan.
• Meet the degree completion requirements within the timeframe of the program.
• Successfully complete the "Thesis" course.

Accreditation

The American University in the Emirates is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Education Commission for Academic Accreditation.

• Bridging Courses: 8 courses, 16 credit hours
• Core Courses: 7 courses, 18 credit hours
• Elective Courses: 3 courses, 9 credit hours
• Thesis: 2 courses, 9 credit hours

Thesis

The thesis consists of two courses:

Fee Structure

The yearly tuition fees are AED 63,200/USD 17,209, inclusive of 5% VAT, excluding service fees. Note that yearly fees will vary depending on the number of courses enrolled.

Program Director

The program director is Dr. Zubaidah Al Dabbagh, Assistant Professor and Acting Program Director Master in Sports Law, and Thesis Support and Compliance Director.

Attendance

Classes are held on weekdays, with morning classes from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and evening classes from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Joining the Program

Students can join the program at the beginning of any block, anytime during the year.

Semesters

The program has three semesters: Fall, Spring, and Summer, with a minimum of 3 courses (9 credit hours) and a maximum of 6 courses (18 credit hours) per semester.
