Introduction to NYU Game Center
The Game Design BFA is a 4-year Bachelors of Fine Arts program located inside NYU's famous Tisch School of the Arts. This program views games as a creative form of art, similar to other Tisch programs in film, dance, and theater.
Program Structure
The program structure introduces students to the fundamentals of games through the lenses of design, technology, and culture. As students progress, they have the flexibility to discover and pursue their own interests, taking courses that range from collaborative game production to critical analysis to specialized elements of visual and audio design. At the conclusion of their BFA study, students complete a senior project, either as an individual or with a group.
Curriculum
The curriculum includes a rigorous study in the liberal arts, preparing students for careers as game designers, developers, scholars, and critics, and other creative fields in the 21st century. Courses range from:
- Collaborative game production
- Critical analysis
- Specialized elements of visual and audio design

Student Work and Events
The NYU Game Center hosts various events, including discussions on games and philosophy, and showcases student work, such as the projects from the NYU Game Center Incubator cohort.
News and Achievements
The Tisch Initiative for Creative Research announces the cohort of HEAR US (Honoring, Elevating, and Recapitalizing Underrepresented Stories) grantees, and congratulates Indiecade Award nominated alumni and recipients of the Alfred P. Sloan Grant.
