Introduction to the CGSB Artist-in-Residence Program
The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is introducing an Artist-in-Residence program, with applications now open for the fourth position, commencing on September 1, 2026. The CGSB, established in 2012, aims to develop a world-class research environment at NYUAD and in the UAE, focusing on two primary research directions: "Biomedicine and Health" and "Environmental Adaptation and Sustainability".
Program Overview
The CGSB encourages scientific and cultural interactions through various events, including lectures, workshops, and Science Cafťs, facilitating the exchange of ideas and knowledge between program participants and the community. The Artist-in-Residence program extends this effort, bringing together scientists and artists to collaborate, communicate, and learn, promoting creative thinking and innovation. The selected artist will collaborate with scientists on one or several CGSB-related research programs.
Program Details
- The program is located on the campus of NYUAD, a portal campus of New York University, which offers a liberal arts US education to over 400 international students from around the world.
- NYUAD is situated on Saadiyat Island, poised to become the cultural hub of the Middle East, already hosting Le Louvre Abu Dhabi, with several other museums under construction.
- The position includes:
- Funds for the implementation of the artist's project
- A competitive salary

- The position will commence on September 1, 2026, for a duration of one year.
Application Requirements
To be considered for the program, applicants must submit the following documents before November 15, 2025:
- A curriculum vitae
- An artist statement, including a brief description of previous projects (500 words)
- A portfolio in PDF format with images or web links reflecting recent work
