Introduction to the Magazine and Digital Storytelling Program
The Magazine and Digital Storytelling program at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute is designed for students who want to pursue versatile careers in writing and storytelling. This program develops the skills to produce memorable stories and explore the unique opportunities of digital media.
Program Overview
The program is designed for students with a wide array of interests who want to pursue careers in magazine writing, whether on the printed page or online. Students develop the skills to produce memorable stories as well as explore the unique opportunities of digital media.
Curriculum
The curriculum provides a foundation in feature writing and hard news, plus video journalism, social media, and photography. Students report on a wide range of topics, including arts and culture, lifestyles, politics, and urban issues. The program teaches students how to tell every kind of story, including profiles, personal essays, breaking news, Q&A, service journalism, and arts criticism.
