See elective courses.

Course Specific Information

Scientific Working and Teaching

Seminar and practical course on scientific working and teaching (P1, 6 ECTS).

Personal and Social Competences (PSK)

  • Course "Personal and social competence"
  • or
  • Recognition of external training (see below)

For recognition in the module "Advanced personal and social competence", students must provide proof of qualified external training. This regulation applies to students of the Master's programmes in Media Informatics (major) and Human-Computer Interaction.

Requirements for qualification:

  • The recognised performance includes a total of at least 180 hours and consists of two parts:
    1. Theoretical training (at least 90 hours): Proof of formal training that provides in-depth knowledge of social and personal competence. The content must cover a selection of the following topics:
    • Social competence: Communicative skills, team skills, conflict management, intercultural competence, social project management.
    • Personal competence: Reflective and critical skills, flexibility, motivation, reliability, ethics, and responsibility.
    1. Practical application (at least 90 hours): Proof of subsequent practical activity in which the content learned in the training was specifically implemented and applied (e.g., independent leadership of a group, teaching, coaching).

Requirements for training:

  • Scope: At least 90 hours of training, plus an additional 90 hours of implementation.
  • Content: The training must provide in-depth knowledge in the areas of social and personal competence.

Thematic focuses:

  • The training must cover a selection of the following topics:
    • Social competence:
      • Communicative competence and communication techniques
      • Dealing with partners and team skills
      • Conflict recognition, management, and resolution
      • Intercultural competence
      • Social project management
    • Personal competence:
      • Reflective and critical skills
      • Flexibility, motivation, and self-responsibility
      • Willingness to learn and perform
      • Endurance, reliability, and ethical behaviour

Required evidence:

  • For recognition, evidence must be provided for both parts:
    • For training (part 1): An official certificate or participation confirmation from the provider with a description of the content, the total number of hours (at least 90), and the period.
    • For practical application (part 2): A confirmation from the employer, association, or organisation, which describes the activity, the hours worked (at least 90), the period, and the clear reference to the application of the previously learned competences.

Important note:

  • A university tutorship or a purely practical activity without theoretical training cannot be recognised for this performance.
  • Submission:
  • Recognition is currently (as of summer semester 2025) only possible via Uni2work workflows.
