Program Overview
The university program in question is the "Instrumentierte Umgebungen - Übung" (Instrumented Environments - Exercise) offered at the Institut für Informatik.
Program Details
Theme
The theme of the program focuses on instrumented environments, including visualization and interaction techniques, software design, and tracking or sensor technology. No prior knowledge of electrical engineering is required.
Programming Language
The program uses an object-oriented programming language, with Java being the preferred language due to the software infrastructure of the FLUIDUM environment.
Objectives
The program aims to develop concrete example systems in group work (2-3 persons).
Requirements
- Vordiplom (a type of diploma)
- Good knowledge of Java/C#/C++
- Basic knowledge of interaction design or network/sensor technology
- Alternatively, high self-motivation is also acceptable
Participant Limit
The program is limited to 15 participants.
Schedule
The program involves self-contained group work (2-3 persons) during the week, with weekly meetings for presentation and discussion.
Weekly Meetings

- Location: Amalienstr. 17, Room 105 (1st floor)
Projects
There are five projects in total, each worked on by a group of 2-3 participants. The project themes include:
- TablePong: Adapting the classic computer game Pong to the Display Wall.
- MultiPlayerPuzzle: A multi-user puzzle for joint problem-solving on the Display Wall.
- BluetoothIdentification: Identifying individuals in the FLUIDUM room using Bluetooth devices.
- LichtSchranke: Detecting whether a person is sitting at the interactive table in the FLUIDUM room using a light barrier.
- PlatzAnweiser: A guide in the FLUIDUM room using a controllable projector.
Groups
The groups and their assigned projects are as follows:
- TablePong: HendrikRichter, WolfgangMatzke, MartinWeinand
- MultiPlayerPuzzle: DanielWolf, ClaudiaRuch, StefanFreund
- BluetoothIdentification: AlexanderKahl, StefanSeitz, KayWeckemann
- LichtSchranke: DavidKim, AntoniusWeinzierl
- PlatzAnweiser: PhilipKoene, BoQuan, JohannesJüngst
Assignments and Slides
There are no weekly exercise sheets. Instead, each group works on an independent project, which is discussed in the exercise sessions.
