Design Paris
Design in the City of Lights!
The city of Paris offers a richly layered framework from which to engage questions critical to design explorations. The city is a compendium of many centuries of endeavors to construct the built environment around a constantly changing context. With many cultural resources, Paris represents a unique urban classroom in which to be immersed. As a living classroom, Paris has the capacity to challenge the preconceptions of space-making practices and expand the notion of human experience in the urban context.
Program Details
Beginning in fall 2018, the LSU School of Architecture and the College of Art & Design will offer a 16-week, 12-credit-hour design curriculum taught by LSU and CEA Paris Center faculty. The coursework will enable students to engage in the built environment of Paris and test observations through design work. All field studies, course travel, and housing will be coordinated through the administrative staff at the CEA Paris Center.
CEA Paris Center
The CEA Paris Center is embedded in the heart of the metropolis in one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city: Le Marais. Located in the 3rd and 4th arrondissments along the right bank of the Seine River, Le Marais is a district in Paris that is home to many buildings of historical and architectural importance, such as the Centre Pompidou and Place Des Vosges. Today, Le Marais has many art galleries and is widely known as a youthful, vibrant environment.
