Program Overview
The Master of Heritage Preservation (M.H.P.) program offers graduate study opportunities for careers related to the preservation and interpretation of history and cultural heritage.
Program Structure
The 42-credit hour degree program allows students to pursue either the Historic Preservation or Public History track.
Historic Preservation Track
The Historic Preservation track focuses on the built environment, buildings, landscapes, and the general preservation of historical sites.
Public History Track
The Public History track focuses on interpreting history to a public audience through exhibits, online resources, oral histories, archives, and museum studies.
Program Emphasis
The program and its faculty emphasize the theory and practice of protecting historic sites, communicating their historical significance, and generating dialogue around their meanings in the present.
