International Bachelor of Arts (iBA)

The International Bachelor of Arts (iBA) program at York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS) is a unique undergraduate degree that prepares students for success in the global workforce. This program provides international perspectives and experiences, setting it apart from other bachelor's degrees.

The iBA program reflects York University's commitment to providing students with opportunities to gain international experience and skills. Students in this program will have the chance to learn a new language and complete a term abroad, acquiring cross-cultural knowledge that is in high demand in today's global workplace.

Requirements

To complete the iBA program, students must fulfill the following requirements:


  • Complete internationally-oriented courses (12 credits)
  • Complete language courses (18 credits)
  • Participate in an international exchange with one of York University's 120+ global partners within the 120 credits

Internationally-Oriented Courses Requirement

Students must complete ANTH 2300 3.00 plus at least 9 credits of internationally-oriented courses. ANTH 2300 prepares students to negotiate learning goals in a cross-cultural context while on university exchange.


Language Requirement

Students must complete at least 18 credits in a modern language offered by York University, including the advanced-level course in the chosen language. Students who are fluent in a language may be exempted from some of the language requirement credits and can undergo an examination to test language proficiency.


Academic Exchange Requirement

Students must complete at least one full term abroad as a full-time student at one of York University's 120+ exchange partners. Course credits earned on exchange will be transferred to the degree and can fulfill major, internationally-oriented, language, or free choice credit requirements.
