Introduction to Business Administration

Course Information

The course "Introduction to Business Administration" is aimed at doctoral candidates and postdocs from all faculties (except economics and business administration) who wish to gain a practical understanding of how organizations and companies operate.


Objectives

The workshop aims to provide a foundational understanding of how research can be translated into products, services, or start-ups, and to develop transferable skills such as project planning, stakeholder management, and communication with non-scientific partners.

Format

The course will consist of lecturer input, group work, and plenary discussions.


Target Audience

The course is designed for all doctoral candidates and postdocs (except economics and business administration).


Instructor Information

Dr. Julia Starzetz is a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Basel, Switzerland. Her research interests include organizational and personnel economics, digital transformation, employee autonomy, and people analytics.


Workload

The course requires approximately 18 hours of work, including 16 hours of attendance and 2 hours of pre- and post-session work.


Special Features

Once registration is open, applications will be collected for 24 hours and course places allocated by lot. All registrations received after the initial 24-hour period will be put on a waiting list and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.


Location

The course will take place at the Universit酹sbibliothek Basel, GRACE room 306 (3rd floor), Sch霵beinstrasse 18-20, 4056 Basel.

Costs

The course is free of charge and open to doctoral candidates and postdocs (except economics and business administration) of the University of Basel only, with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 16 participants.
