Introduction to the Finance BSc (Hons) Program

The Finance BSc (Hons) program at the University of Bath is a three-year undergraduate course that provides students with a solid grounding in all areas of business, specializing in the skills and knowledge needed for a career in finance.


Course Structure

The course is divided into three years, with the first year covering the fundamentals of finance, accounting, and economics. Students will also develop their mathematical skills and explore business, society, and law.


Year 1

In the first year, students will take the following compulsory units:

In the final year, students will choose 50 credits of optional units from topics like financial markets, statement analysis, risk modelling, business economics, financial technology, and sustainable finance. Students will also complete an independent project, a research project with guidance from a supervisor.


Learning and Assessment

Students will be taught and assessed by a variety of methods, including lectures, computer lab sessions, seminars, simulation games, coursework, and written examinations.


Recognition of Professional Qualifications

The program is recognized by professional bodies in the United Kingdom, and an accredited degree may entitle students to work in a specific profession within the UK and abroad.


Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following entry requirements:


  • A strong performance in Mathematics as part of their entry qualifications
  • A suitable English language qualification, such as IELTS or TOEFL, if English is not their first language

British Qualifications

Students with British qualifications must meet the following requirements:


  • GCSE English Language or Literature grade 6 or B (or equivalent from English language category A)
