Unit of Teaching: Interpersonal Communication
Description
The unit of teaching "Interpersonal Communication" is designed to help students develop their communication skills in a professional context. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate effectively in various situations.
Objectives
The objectives of the program are to:
- Practice interpersonal communication adapted to each professional context
- Practical scientific and technical communication adapted to the concerned public
- Use specific types of oral and written discourse in scientific and professional communications
Acquired Intermediate Learning and Targeted Skills
The program aims to help students:
- Manage their stress and emotions during presentations in front of an audience
- Improve their self-knowledge and understanding of others: understand social interactions and develop their relational effectiveness
- Master verbal, paraverbal, and non-verbal communication techniques to adapt the message to the context and audience
- Know how to present a clear and structured exposition or project
- Write effective supports and understand the specificities of written discourse (scientific, technical, popularized)
- Simplify a complex scientific text for a non-expert audience while maintaining scientific rigor
- Master the requirements of technical documents and internship reports, respecting formal and professional constraints

- Interpersonal Communication
- Presentation of the components of communication: verbal
on-verbal/paraverbal - Presentation of different possible structures according to the communication objective
- Presentation of a pitch model to introduce oneself
- Presentation of feedback to sharpen the critical gaze of students
- Practical exercises for oral presentation of oneself using the pitch model in 1 minute
- Presentation of the 4mat structure (PNL model) to present and convince
- Group exercise to prepare for oral presentations and passages
- Presentation of the "Logical levels" functioning model to focus the discourse according to the audience's motivations
- Presentation of the components of communication: verbal
- Written and Scientific Communication
- Introduction to scientific popularization: definition, challenges, and importance for society
- Why and how to popularize science? Exploration of essential methods for clear and effective communication
