Unit of Teaching: Interpersonal Communication

Description

The unit of teaching "Interpersonal Communication" is designed to help students develop their communication skills in a professional context. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate effectively in various situations.


Objectives

The objectives of the program are to:


  • Practice interpersonal communication adapted to each professional context
  • Practical scientific and technical communication adapted to the concerned public
  • Use specific types of oral and written discourse in scientific and professional communications

The program aims to help students:


  • Manage their stress and emotions during presentations in front of an audience
  • Improve their self-knowledge and understanding of others: understand social interactions and develop their relational effectiveness
  • Master verbal, paraverbal, and non-verbal communication techniques to adapt the message to the context and audience
  • Know how to present a clear and structured exposition or project
  • Write effective supports and understand the specificities of written discourse (scientific, technical, popularized)
  • Simplify a complex scientific text for a non-expert audience while maintaining scientific rigor
  • Master the requirements of technical documents and internship reports, respecting formal and professional constraints

  • Interpersonal Communication
    • Presentation of the components of communication: verbal
      on-verbal/paraverbal
    • Presentation of different possible structures according to the communication objective
    • Presentation of a pitch model to introduce oneself
    • Presentation of feedback to sharpen the critical gaze of students
    • Practical exercises for oral presentation of oneself using the pitch model in 1 minute
    • Presentation of the 4mat structure (PNL model) to present and convince
    • Group exercise to prepare for oral presentations and passages
    • Presentation of the "Logical levels" functioning model to focus the discourse according to the audience's motivations
  • Written and Scientific Communication
    • Introduction to scientific popularization: definition, challenges, and importance for society
    • Why and how to popularize science? Exploration of essential methods for clear and effective communication
