Bachelor of Education (Secondary)
The Bachelor of Education (Secondary) is a program designed for individuals who wish to teach in secondary schools. The program focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required to teach students in Years 7-12.
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Education (Secondary) is a 3.5-4 year full-time program, or 8 years part-time, that provides students with the opportunity to specialize in two teaching areas. The program includes extensive professional experience placements, which start from the first year of study, and are organized by QUT.

Program Structure
The program consists of 384 credit points, made up of:
- Core units (156 credit points, 13 units)
- First teaching area (96 credit points, 8 units)
- Second teaching area (96 credit points, 8 units)
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) option unit (12 credit points, 1 unit)
- QUT You (24 credit points)
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission, students must have:
- Completed four semesters (Units 3 & 4, C) at an Australian high school level or equivalent
- Passed English, or Literature, or English and Literature Extension, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C)
- Passed at least one of General Mathematics, or Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)
- Achieved an ATAR/selection rank of 70.00 or higher
English Language Proficiency
International students must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving:
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 or better overall with no subscore below 6.0
- Cambridge English Score: 176 or better overall with no subscore below 169
- PTE Academic: 58 or better overall with no subscore below 50
- TOEFL iBT: 79 or better overall with no subscore below 16 (Reading), 16 (Listening), 21 (Writing), and 18 (Speaking)
Fees
The tuition fees for the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) program are:
- 2026: CSP $9,400 per year full-time (96 credit points)
- 2026: $40,300 per year full-time (96 credit points)
