Spring 2026: Hack for RVA - Communications Intern

The Opportunity

Hack for RVA is Richmond's first civic hackathon, where 300+ technologists, designers, and community members build solutions for the city. The event will take place on March 27-29, 2026, at the Science Museum of Virginia, in partnership with the City of Richmond and Mayor Avula's Mayoral Action Plan.


What You'll Do

  • Launch
    • Press releases and media outreach
    • Social content to drive registration
    • Coordinate messaging with partners
    • Capture photos and stories on-site
  • Impact
    • Deploy surveys to capture outcomes
    • Aggregate data and surface insights
    • Draft impact reports
    • Document learnings for future years

Who You'll Work With

You will work with a 4-person team, reporting to the Social Media Manager and Event Co-Chairs, with faculty guidance from Judi Crenshaw (VCU Robertson).


You Should Have

  • Clear writing and fast turnaround
  • Instagram and LinkedIn skills
  • Photography (phone is fine)
  • Spreadsheets and survey tools

  • Event: March 27-29, 2026

  • Format: Mostly remote, with on-site work during the event, and 18-20 hours/week, flexible
