Overview of the Faculty

The Faculty of History, Art, and Regional Studies is located at Schillerstraße 6, 04109 Leipzig. The faculty is led by Dean Prof. Dr. Markus A. Denzel and Dean's Councilor Uta Al-Marie.

Bachelor of Arts in Musicology

The Bachelor of Arts in Musicology program provides students with a broad knowledge of music in history and the present. The program focuses on historical musicology, music sociology, and music philosophy.


Program Structure

The program consists of 180 credit points, divided into:


  • 90 credit points for the core subject of musicology
  • 60 credit points for a chosen elective area or minor subject
  • 30 credit points for key qualifications

Admission Requirements

Admission to the program requires:


  • General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification
  • No special language skills are required
  • An aptitude test is required for this program
