M.A. Modern South Asia
The Master's program Modern South Asia is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the source language Hindi and the ability to access original language sources and evaluate them critically. The program aims to develop students' specialized knowledge of the literature, culture, and society of contemporary South Asia, as well as their critical awareness of relevant specialized discourses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree: A bachelor's degree in a field of religious studies, regional studies, cultural studies, anthropology, or a subject related to South Asia.
- Language certificates: Students must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English (Common European Framework of Reference, level B2, UNIcert II or equivalent).
- Course Credits: Proof of study achievements related to South Asia amounting to 30 credits or equivalent knowledge is required.
Application Procedure
The application procedure involves submitting the following documents:
- Letter of motivation
- Curriculum vitae
- BA certificate (or if not yet available, overview of studies with grades)
- Confirmation of when the BA program will be completed (if applicable) Students must also apply to Leipzig University simultaneously.
Application Deadlines
- Enrollment in the Master program Modern South Asia is open for both winter and summer semesters.
- Documents should be submitted by August 15.
Structure of the M.A. Modern South Asia
The program focuses on modern digital methods of knowledge transfer, allowing students to actively participate in the production of knowledge in their subject via new media. The Master Modern South Asia implements the claim of the faculty to be actively involved in the transfer of knowledge to society.
