GEOGRAPHY Program Details

The Geography program aims to provide an overview of the fundamental notions of geography, exploring the main spatial, landscape, and environmental dynamics that characterize the contemporary world from a transcale perspective.

Overview

The course is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of human geography, emphasizing various perspectives of contemporary geography. Students will learn to read critically and use geographic and topographic maps. The teaching methods will be given special attention.

Aims and Content

Learning Outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide students with a broad understanding of human geography. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the meaning of basic geographical concepts (space, territory, landscape, environment, place)
  • Critically analyze contemporary issues with a multiscalar approach, from the local to the global
  • Analyze the varied geographical narratives of territories, also with specific reference to the geo-literary approach
  • Interpret the socio-territorial dynamics that characterize different geographical regions
  • Interpret the factors that determine the impact of human activities on the environment and landscape

Prerequisites

Teaching Methods

The course will be organized with alternating moments of frontal and participatory teaching.
