Introduction to the Justice Project

The UEA Justice Project is an initiative that works with individuals who have been convicted of serious crimes but maintain their innocence. The primary goal of the project is to investigate these cases and determine if there are grounds to overturn the convictions.

The project is led by Louise Shorter, a criminal justice expert and journalist. Under her guidance, students collaborate to examine cases of long-term prisoners who claim to be victims of miscarriages of justice. The team's objective is to assist these individuals in overturning their convictions by re-examining evidence, identifying new lines of inquiry, and assessing whether they received a fair trial.
