Objectives and Contents
Educational Objectives
The program aims to prepare qualified professionals with specific competencies to be inserted into the context of diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy, understanding work dynamics and being able to analyze and solve organizational criticalities.
Detailed Educational Objectives and Learning Outcomes
The program also aims to provide students with basic notions related to different types of applied research studies in diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy. At the end of the course, students must be able to apply the acquired knowledge to critically read the results of scientific studies and apply the notions in the construction of the thesis as a research tool, in the publication of an article or poster.
Teaching Methods
- Lectures
- Group work
Program/Content
The course will delve into some models of application of diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy techniques (body and joint radiology, use of CT and MRI for cerebral perfusion study; standardized protocols in neuroradiology; clinical MRI protocols for multiple sclerosis and neurodegenerative pathology; possible applications of quantitative MRI in clinical neuroradiology).
It will then address topics related to the methodology of research applied to diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy, including:
- Appropriateness in diagnostic imaging
- Multicenter clinical trials
- Harmonization
- Big data in healthcare
- Tutoring for thesis preparation in diagnostic imaging
- Evidence-based medicine in diagnostic imaging
- Research of sources, use of PubMed
- Critical reading of a scientific article
- Writing a scientific article
The Radiopharmacy module aims to provide specific competencies aimed at knowledge of the main radio-pharmaceuticals used in Nuclear Medicine, ready for use or prepared on site, operations for preparation/formulation of radio-pharmaceuticals, and analytical techniques necessary for quality control of radio-pharmaceuticals in compliance with current regulations.
