Objectives and Contents
Educational Objectives
The "Impianti Tecnici" module develops training related to heat transmission, analyzing the three main mechanisms: conduction, convection, and radiation. It considers applications to buildings and their systems. It introduces the principles of humid air thermodynamics and their applications to air conditioning systems, as well as surface and interstitial condensation phenomena. The introduction to electrical systems completes the course.

- Heat exchange in buildings: Thermal balance for transparent walls; Thermal balance for opaque walls.
- Thermodynamics of humid air and Psychrometry: Psychrometric quantities and their relationships; Thermohygrometric comfort: Fanger's studies; Condensation in structures; Vapor diffusion, Surface condensation; Interstitial condensation: Glaser's theory; Vapor barriers.
- Air conditioning systems: Summer air conditioning; Winter air conditioning; Traditional heating systems.
- Elements of electrical systems: Impedances (R, L, C) and simple circuits; Star-triangle transformations; Kirchhoff's laws; Voltage drop in a conductor; Power factor correction; Active, reactive, and apparent power; The electric motor (asynchronous machine), the rotating magnetic field, motor operation, starting; Law 37/08, determination of fault current and earth resistance; Earthing systems, differential and magnetothermal protections; Lightning rods: verification of the self-protected volume; Design of lightning rods with a tip or cage.
