MMet Meteorology and Climate with a Year in Oklahoma
The MMet Meteorology and Climate with a Year in Oklahoma is a master's-level qualification that provides students with the opportunity to study severe weather systems up close. This course is approved by the Royal Meteorological Society and is ideal for someone who is considering a career in climate or meteorological research.
Overview
The course covers all aspects of meteorology and climate, from atmospheric science to oceanography. The first two years are identical to the BSc Meteorology and Climate course, and the third year is spent at the University of Oklahoma, where students study the weather of the US High Plains regions and the methods used to observe and forecast it. In the final year, students carry out an independent research project and can choose from an extended range of options at master's level.
Global Impact
The University of Reading is ranked 4th in the UK for environmental and ethical performance, 3rd in the UK for research power in Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences, and 10th in the world for Atmospheric Science. The university's climate scientists played a leading role in the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, and 100% of students said teaching staff are good at explaining things.
