Proteomic Analysis by Mass Spectrometry LC-MSMS

Overview

Mass spectrometry is the main technique used in the Proteomics field, helping in the identification of proteins after trypsin digestion, localization of putative post-translational modifications, and evaluation of relative quantification, from simple to complex protein samples.

Timeline

1. Day 1: Morning - Principles of mass spectrometry for Proteomics
   • Afternoon - Trypsin digestion of protein samples and preparation of the mass spectrometer LC-Quadrupole-Orbitrap MS
2. Day 2: Morning - Extraction of Tryptic peptides and analysis of standard digests by proteomics algorithms
   • Afternoon - Injection of digested samples
3. Day 3 - Bioinformatic analysis of MS results with specific workflows

Student Prerequisites

• Knowledge in Biochemistry (sequence & PTM of proteins)

• Clean Blouse
• Personal pipetman of 20µl and 200µl

At the end of the workshop, students will have gained knowledge in proteomics methodologies, enabling them to better understand publications describing proteomics and to apply this technology to their own research topics.
