Associate Degree in Music (A2M)
Overview
The Associate Degree in Music is a two-year full-time (maximum five-year part-time) qualification grounded in the vibrant cultural community that is the University of Tasmania's School of Creative Arts and Media. Based in Hobart and enjoying the excellent recording, rehearsal, and performance spaces at the Hedberg, you will join a learning community that values and explores diverse forms of music.
Duration
Minimum 2 years, up to a maximum of 5 years. This course is available to study as both part-time or full-time.

Learning Outcomes
- Apply music skills and contextual knowledge to creative and scholarly practice
- Identify and define musical problems by applying core theoretical, analytic, and practical skills to contextual inquiry and creative outcomes

Course Structure
The Associate Degree in Music requires the completion of 200 credit points comprising:
- 150 credit points of Core units
- 50 credit points of Core Option units

Entry Requirements
For Domestic students:
- Meet the University's General Entry Requirements based on your prior studies and experience
- Successfully complete an audition and interview in person on-campus in Hobart, or by submitting a private internet link, USB, CD, or DVD of your audition repertoire in lieu of a live audition in Hobart, and interview over the phone/internet

If your ability to access or participate in education has been affected by circumstances beyond your control, you can apply for special consideration as part of your application.
Articulation
Students can exit with a Diploma of Music if they meet the requirements of that award. Students who successfully complete the Associate Degree in Music may articulate with full credit into the Bachelor of Music, and can also articulate into the Bachelor of Arts with full credit.

Domestic Students
- Commonwealth supported places (CSP) are available for this course
- Your tuition fees will depend on specific unit enrolment, and are subject to annual increases each year
- HECS-HELP loans may be available for eligible students
