Quercus Talented Students' Programme
The Quercus Talented Students' Programme at University College Cork recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional contribution to citizenship, community engagement, or community leadership. The programme aims to create an environment where academic excellence can be combined with opportunities for personal development.
About
The Quercus Programme acknowledges that many potential and current UCC students regularly demonstrate exceptional contribution to active citizenship. The programme will award up to 3 Quercus Scholarships for Active Citizenship to registered undergraduate/level 8 students in 2026/27. These students should demonstrate an exceptional level of excellence in active citizenship and will have been selected by the Scholarship Panel for a Quercus Scholarship.
Am I Eligible?
Successful applicants will:
- Meet the minimum entry requirements (matriculation) of their desired undergraduate/level 8 programme
- Be able to provide evidence of sustained engagement in Active Citizenship and have demonstrated significant impact through a regional or national profile for leadership in active citizenship
- Have exhibited excellence and the potential to develop that excellence in their chosen field with recognition at regional, national, or international level for their Citizenship efforts
Scholarship Benefits
The five strands of talented students within the programme will benefit from a wide range of academic, financial, personal, and other supports, including:
- Reduced CAO points entry (if required)
- Campus Accommodation (for students outside a certain proximity from campus)
- Waiver of 3,000 Student Contribution Fee

- Active Citizenship Mentor
- Invitations to relevant networking events

- Participation in relevant workshops/master classes
How do I apply?
To apply for a Quercus Scholarship, you must:
- Be either a registered undergraduate University College Cork student or applicant for an undergraduate/level 8 programme at UCC in 2026/27
- Read the Active Citizenship Terms of Reference & Memorandum of Understanding
- Submit your application through the designated process
