The Industrial Doctorate (ID) at the University of Oulu offers companies a new way to address key challenges. The ID enables companies to focus on and conduct long-term, high-quality research, as well as educate and recruit future experts.

The four-year ID doctoral program is a collaboration between the company and the university. The program involves:

• Jointly defined scientific objectives that the doctoral researcher will investigate in their dissertation
• A four-year agreement between the company and the university, with costs shared 50/50
• The company receives exclusive rights to utilize the results in their primary field
