Erasmus+ Traineeships
The European Union's Erasmus+ program supports the internationalization of higher education students by providing grants for traineeships abroad. If you are planning a traineeship in Europe, an Erasmus+ grant is likely your most feasible funding opportunity.
Eligible Traineeships
Erasmus+ traineeships can be conducted in Erasmus+ program countries: EU member states, as well as Norway, Iceland, the United Kingdom, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Turkey, and North Macedonia.
- Long-term Erasmus+ Traineeship: The traineeship agreement must last a minimum of 2 months (60 days).
- Short-term Blended Mobility Traineeship: The traineeship agreement must last between 5-30 days, plus at least a one-day virtual remote work period as part of the traineeship.
Grants
The Erasmus+ traineeship grant amount is determined as follows:
- Monthly/Day Grant:
- Group 1 (Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Iceland, United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, Liechtenstein, Norway, Luxembourg, France, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, United Kingdom): 690 /month, approximately 23 /day
- Group 2 (Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary, Estonia, Serbia): 640 /month, approximately 21 /day
- Travel Allowance: Based on the distance between Oulu and the destination, with options for a standard or increased "green travel" allowance for more environmentally friendly travel methods.
- Daily Allowance for Travel Days: Up to 2 days for travel.
Additional Support
- Fewer Opportunities Supplement: A fixed additional grant of 250 /month (or a lump sum of **100 ** for short-term blended mobility traineeships) for students with fewer opportunities.
- Participation Support: For students who need additional support due to disabilities or special needs.
Application Requirements
To be eligible for an Erasmus+ traineeship grant:
- Your traineeship must be part of your degree program and approved by your university.
- The traineeship must be full-time and last between 2 months and 12 months.
- You must be physically present at the traineeship location and not receive any other funding from the EU or other sources for the same activity.
- You cannot receive a salary from the University of Oulu for the traineeship period.
Application Process
- Prepare the Traineeship Agreement: Use the Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for Traineeships. This agreement defines the content, duration, and credits of your traineeship.
- Submit the Application in SoleMOVE: Fill out the Erasmus+ traineeship application in the University's mobility database, attaching your signed Learning Agreement.
- Apply for the Grant in SoleGRANT: After your application is approved, you will receive instructions on how to apply for the grant in SoleGRANT, including an additional Erasmus+ grant agreement.
Reporting and Finalization
After completing your traineeship, you must submit a report and finalize the process to receive the remaining 20% of your grant.
