Máster Universitario en Sistemas de Información Digital

The Master's Degree in Digital Information Systems is a one-year academic program offered by the University of Salamanca. The program aims to provide advanced and specialized training in digital information management, enabling graduates to work in various information environments, both in the public and private sectors.


Presentation

The Master's Degree in Digital Information Systems has been continuously offered by the University of Salamanca since its inception. The new study plan, which has undergone the verification process by the Council of Universities, will be implemented in the upcoming academic year. In 2017 and 2021, this Master's program renewed its accreditation.


Competencies

The program aims to develop the following competencies in its students:


  • Competencias Básicas (CB) y Generales (CG):
    • CB6: Possess and comprehend knowledge that provides a base or opportunity to be original in the development and/or application of ideas, often in a research context.
    • CB7: Apply acquired knowledge and problem-solving skills in new or unfamiliar environments within broader contexts related to their area of study.
    • CB8: Integrate knowledge and face the complexity of formulating judgments based on incomplete or limited information, including reflections on social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments.
    • CB9: Communicate conclusions and the knowledge and reasons that support them to specialized and non-specialized audiences clearly and without ambiguity.
    • CB10: Possess learning skills that enable them to continue studying in a largely self-directed or autonomous manner.
    • CG1: Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to select, manage, organize, and preserve digital documentation and information so that it can be used by third parties.
  • Competencias Específicas (CE):
    • CE1: Capacity to design, plan, and organize digital information systems, units, and services.
    • CE2: Capacity to select and apply appropriate techniques, depending on user needs, in the selection, organization, access, retrieval, conservation, dissemination, and exchange of digital information.
    • CE3: Performance in the use of information technologies employed in digital information units and services.
    • CE4: Capacity to apply techniques for obtaining, treating, and interpreting data on the environment of digital information units and services, and the study, management, and evaluation of digital information production, transfer, and use processes.
    • CE5: Capacity to use computer tools for the implementation, development, and exploitation of digital information systems.
    • CE6: Capacity to analyze, advise, and train digital information service producers, users, and clients.

Profile of Admission

Given the versatile nature of the professional profile to be formed, any university graduate (Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma) can access the "Master's in Digital Information Systems." The program is directed at university graduates in areas related to Information and Documentation or in any other area who have an interest in specializing their curriculum in fields related to digital Information and Documentation.


Access, Pre-Registration, Admission, and Enrollment

The selection process for students will be carried out by the Master's Academic Commission, composed of the program's teaching staff and a student representative. The following criteria will be applied:


  • Graduates in the field of Library Science and Documentation, with priority given to those holding a Bachelor's degree in Information and Documentation, followed by those with a degree in Documentation, and then those with a diploma in Library Science and Documentation (40%).
  • Academic record (20%).
  • Professional experience (20%).
  • Other merits and circumstances (20%).

Recognition and Transfer of Credits

The maximum number of ECTS that can be recognized for having completed Own Degrees is 9 ECTS. The maximum number of ECTS that can be recognized for Accreditation of Work Experience and Professional Experience is 9 ECTS.


Study Plan

The study plan consists of 8 compulsory subjects (48 ECTS), external practices (6 ECTS), and the final Master's project (6 ECTS).
