Introduction to Tokyo Tech-AYSEAS

Tokyo Tech-AYSEAS (East Asia Young Scientist and Engineer Advanced Study Program) is a practical overseas dispatch program where Tokyo Tech students visit Southeast Asian countries, participating in facility tours, discussions, and cultural exchanges with local university students. This program aims to foster international competence and motivation for global activities among participants.

Program Overview

The primary objective of this program is to enable participating students to develop the skills necessary for international activities through interactions with individuals from diverse nationalities, languages, cultures, and specialties. By visiting multiple overseas sites, including companies and public institutions, students gain opportunities to observe local societies from various angles, beyond their own areas of expertise.

Program Content

The program consists of the following components:

• June to July: Domestic learning (lectures, preliminary research, and presentations on visit destinations, domestic factory tours)
• August to September: 10-day overseas visit
  • Day 1: Icebreaker event
  • Days 2-9: Visits to companies/institutions, group discussions, cultural exchange events, city/suburban tours
  • Day 10: Final presentation, farewell party
• October: Post-return report meeting, final report preparation

• Thailand: Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Thammasat University
• Indonesia: Bandung Institute of Technology, University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University
• Philippines: De La Salle University, University of the Philippines Diliman
• Singapore: Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore
• Vietnam: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology

Past Activities

Previous activities under the AYSEAS and its predecessor program, JAYSES (Japan-Asia Young Scientist and Engineer Study Visit), have been conducted in various countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, with detailed reports available for each year's program.
