Program Objectives

The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the management of green spaces in urban and territorial contexts, as well as the management of forests and protected areas. It seeks to form two professional profiles:

  • A technician for the management of green spaces, capable of managing and designing urban green areas, ornamental tree species, parks, and gardens, as well as urban forestry. This includes the management and maintenance of technical green areas at the urban and peri-urban level.
  • A technician for the management of forests and protected areas, capable of collaborating in the planning and realization of forest management and reforestation interventions, ecological planning of forest territories, rural constructions, conservation and enhancement of plant and animal biodiversity, and collaboration in the drafting of territorial plans.

Educational Approach

The program is characterized by an emphasis on the acquisition of applied knowledge through exercise activities in each course and the realization of thematic laboratories. These laboratories involve project activities, technical visits, or applicative in-depth analyses.

Competences and Skills

The program aims to provide students with a broad spectrum of competences and skills, including:

  • Management and design of urban green spaces
  • Collaboration in urban regeneration and requalification projects
  • Forest and protected area management
  • Ecological planning and biodiversity conservation
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with various stakeholders

Transversal Competences

The program also offers courses and laboratories focused on transversal competences, which are designed to provide students with a wide range of skills useful for their professional and personal development. These include competences that are not strictly related to the specific technical skills of the program but are essential for a comprehensive education.

Research and Application

The program has a strong focus on research and its application to real-world problems. Students are encouraged to participate in research projects and activities that allow them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical issues, preparing them for careers in research, industry, or public services.

Conclusion

The program in the management of green spaces, forests, and protected areas offers a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for a variety of careers in environmental management, conservation, and sustainability. With its emphasis on applied knowledge, research, and transversal competences, the program equips students with the tools necessary to contribute to sustainable development and environmental preservation.
