Introduction to the Course

The Bachelor's Degree Course in Management of Green Spaces, Forests, and Protected Areas (NEST) is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the management of green spaces in urban and territorial contexts, as well as the management of forests and protected areas. The course aims to contribute to the development of the territory, contrast climate change, and protect the quality of the natural and anthropized environment.

Presentation of the Course

The course is divided into two professional profiles:

1. Technician for Green Space Management: This profile focuses on the management and design of urban green spaces, ornamental tree species, parks, and gardens, as well as forestation in urban areas.
2. Technician for Forest and Protected Area Management: This profile focuses on the collaboration in planning and realization of interventions in forest management, ecological planning of the forest territory, and conservation and enhancement of plant and animal biodiversity.

Requisiti di Accesso (Admission Requirements)

To be admitted to the course, students must possess a high school diploma or equivalent foreign qualification. Admission to the course is open and does not require an entrance exam. However, a multiple-choice test is administered to verify basic knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.

Obiettivi Formativi (Educational Objectives)

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the management of green spaces, forests, and protected areas. The course covers various disciplines, including mathematics, physics, botany, genetics, chemistry, pedology, economics, and ecology.

Risultati di Apprendimento Attesi (Expected Learning Outcomes)

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to possess knowledge and understanding of various disciplines, including:

• Mathematics and physics
• Botany and genetics
• Chemistry and pedology
• Economics and environmental law
• Entomology and plant pathology
• Engineering and forest management
• Ecology and territorial planning

Students are also expected to develop skills in applying knowledge and understanding, as well as autonomy of judgment and communication skills.

Curriculum

The course offers two curricula:

1. Gestione degli Spazi Verdi (Green Space Management): This curriculum focuses on the management of urban green spaces, including parks, gardens, and forestation.
2. Gestione dei Boschi e delle Aree Protette (Forest and Protected Area Management): This curriculum focuses on the management of forests and protected areas, including ecological planning, conservation, and enhancement of biodiversity.

Prospettive (Career Prospects)

Graduates of the course can pursue careers in various fields, including:

• Professional studios operating in the field of design and realization of reforestation interventions, management of protected areas, and creation of green infrastructure
• Collaborations in the design of interventions for hydrogeological protection, also using naturalistic engineering techniques
• Collaborations in environmental assessment and estimation procedures, in the preparation of plans, programs, and policies
• Management of territorial information systems, automatic design programs, and use of drones for territorial analysis
• Free profession: technical assistance activity

Graduates can also take the state exam for qualification as a junior agronomist and forester (section B). The course prepares students for professions such as:

1. Agricultural technicians
2. Forestry technicians
