Introduction to the Hippology Program
The Hippology Program is Sweden's only university education in equine science. The program comprises 180 higher education credits and starts every autumn. The education is currently offered with two specializations, Icelandic Horse and Riding Horse, and is provided at the Horse Industry's three national facilities: Flyinge, Str—msholm, and WÍngen.
Specializations
The Hippology Program has two specializations:
Riding Horse
The Riding Horse specialization is studied at the Horse Industry's national facilities, Flyinge and Str—msholm. These facilities have long and solid experience from the horse industry, and students have the opportunity to learn from professionals with extensive experience.
Icelandic Horse
The Icelandic Horse specialization is studied at the Horse Industry's national facility, WÍngen. This facility offers excellent opportunities for training and study, including a large indoor arena, oval track, passageway, and forest trails in good terrain. Students also learn theoretical and practical aspects from leading profiles in Icelandic Horse and top horse researchers from SLU.
