PhD studies at the Department of Economics
نظرة عامة على البرنامج
PhD Studies at the Department of Economics
The Department of Economics provides postgraduate studies in business studies and economics. Doing a PhD at the Department implies getting a clear subject specialization, normally applied to the agrarian sector or environmental problems. Currently, the Department has about twenty PhD students.
Program Description
The education takes four years, ending with a doctoral degree. It is also possible to finish the postgraduate studies after two years, resulting in a licentiate degree. About half of the postgraduate education is devoted to coursework, and the other half to research. After finishing the postgraduate education, the doctor can continue with an academic career or pursue a career in industry or within authorities.
Recruitment and Admission
The Department of Economics employs postgraduate students starting in the autumn every other year, but sometimes postgraduate students are employed at other times of the year as well. All postgraduate students get a position as a PhD student, which includes social benefits. The positions are financed either by the Department's research budget or by external funding.
