Overview:

Sapporo Medical University, formerly known as Hokkaido Women’s Medical College, was established in 1950 as the first medical university under Japan's new postwar medical university system. It is a public university located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. The university aims to be a "Hall of Fame for Medical Knowledge."

Academic Programs:

School of Medicine:

The university initially only offered a School of Medicine.

School of Health Sciences:

Established in 1993, this school includes the Department of Nursing, the Department of Physical Therapy, and the Department of Occupational Therapy.

Other:

• The university transitioned to a Hokkaido public university corporation in April 2007.
• The university has a strong focus on research and has established numerous founded projects.
