Sunyani Technical University

Overview:

Sunyani Technical University (STU) is a public technical university located in Sunyani, Bono Region, Ghana. It was established in 1967 as Sunyani Technical Institute and upgraded to a Polytechnic in 1997. In 2016, it was converted to a Technical University following the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) as amended.

Graduate Programs:

Master of Technology (MTech) programs are available on a weekend-based schedule.

Undergraduate Programs:

Both 2-year top-up and 4-year degree programs are offered, with classes available on weekends and weekdays.

Higher National Diploma (HND) Programs:

Practical-oriented HND programs are designed to prepare students for the job market.

Certificate and Short Courses:

STU also offers certificate and short courses.

Other:

• STU has launched an Endowment Fund to implement the new University Master Plan.
• STU has a strong focus on research and innovation, as evidenced by its hosting of the 3rd Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities in Ghana (ARCTUG, 2024).
• STU has partnered with the Ghana Armed Forces to train engineers.
• STU has built two new laboratories for pharmacy students with funding from the International Growth Fund (IGF).
• STU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vanuatu Trade Commission (VTC) in Ghana to train students in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
• STU has a strong online presence, with active social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
