Doctor in Orthodontics

Programme Summary

The Doctor in Orthodontics programme requires a prerequisite Master of Applied Sciences in Dentistry programme. Applicants must apply for the Master of Applied Sciences in Dentistry programme for the 2024/2025 academic session to be eligible for enrolment into this programme. The next intake for this programme will be in October 2026 for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Duration of Program

The programme duration is 3 years (6 semesters), and it is available in full-time mode only.

Mode of Study

The mode of study for this programme is coursework.

The programme is open to local and international candidates.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must:

• Possess an undergraduate dental degree (DDS, BDS) or equivalent that is recognized by the university senate.
• Possess a Master of Applied Sciences in Dentistry degree, or equivalent that is recognized by the university senate.
• Be registered with the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC), or for international students, be registered with the dental regulatory body in another country and be eligible to be granted a Temporary Practising Certificate (TPC) by MDC.
• Have at least two (2) full years of experience in general dental practice after graduation.
• Meet the English language qualification with a minimum score of:
  • TOEFL 550 (paper-based, PBT), or 80 (internet-based, iBT), or 213 (computer-based, CBT).
  • IELTS Band 6.0 with the validation of certificate within 2 years from the date of the test.
• Pass the health check as required by the university.
• Pass the interview (either face-to-face or through online communication).
• Meet other requirements as stated in the university regulation (postgraduate studies).

Fees

The programme fees are as follows:

• Malaysian: 240,000 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR)
• International: 480,000 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR)
